Japanese submarine sighted nearby New Caledonia according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee daily summary dated 30 May 1942

An item reported that an Allied aircraft attacked an enemy [Japanese?] submarine on 28 May 150 miles north of New Caledonia. On the New Caledonian beaches were some enemy mines found.
