French whaler l’Ocean visited South Africa according to the The Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette dated 22 July 1831

An item reported the arrival at Port Elizabeth on 14 July of the French whaler l’Ocean master Alex. Distan [from Nantes] returning from whaling. She left on 29 June towards the St. Francis Bay.
