Part of Vulcain-class minesweepers and called a BBPD vessel (bâtiment-base de plongeurs démineurs) and is used a base ship for clearance divers. Laid down by Chantiers et ateliers de la Perrière, Lorient, France on 15 May 1985, launched on 17 Januaru 1986 and commissioned on 11 October 1986.
