The Swedish navy strengthened according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 31 August 1818

Stockholm, 14 August. The navy was continuous strengthened. In 1817 was the ship of the line Koning Karel XIII completed and at the moment was worked on the ship of the line Koning Karel Johann in the dock at Karlskrona. Six large gunboats were all ready completed and at Gotland, Oeland and Colmar were men busy with the building of 18 vessels of different sizes. Since the last war at sea was the scheeren (coastal and inshore waters) fleet with the half strengthened. There were 20,000 well trained officers available.
