Part of the Walrus-class consisting of the Walrus, Zeeleeuw, Bruinvis and Dolfijn. Speed around 20 knots. Machinery consisted of 3 SEMT-Pielstick diesels supplying 4,63 MW1 and 5,1MW Holec electro motor. Armament consisted of 4-43,34cm/ 21” torpedo tubes. Crew numbers 50 men. Displacement 2.450 (surfaced)-2.800 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 68 x 8,50 x 7 metres. Contract signed on 17 December 1979, laid down at RDM shipyard, Rotterdam, Netherlands on 24 September 1981, launched on 20 June 1987 and commissioned on 25 April 1990.
