Spanish naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 15 March 1854

An item reported that the Spanish navy numbered 3 ships of the line, 14 sail and 14 screw steam frigates, 17 corvettes, 14 brigs, 4 schooner brigs, 10 schooners and packets, 2 screw steam schooners, 8 transports, 34 steamships and 102 smaller vessels totally 189 units included the ones still being built or of which the building was ordered.
