Russia interested in building an armoured minelayer according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 4

An item referred to theGerman magazine Marine Rundschau which reported that Russia intended to built an armoured minelayer of 16.000 ton and as dimensions 166 x 23 x 7,6 metres. The turbines and piston machines delivered 5.393 hp hp allowing a speed of 27 miles. A maximum fuel bunker capacity of 2.000 ton included 1.000 ton oil. She was to be armed with 2-25cm guns, 2-20cm guns, 16-12cm guns and to carry with her 1.000 mines. The armour was consisting of a 10cm thick belt with a height of 3,5 metres above water and above a side armour of 5cm thickness. The turrets were protected by 15cm. Further more there were 2 armour decks of respectively 2,5 and 3,8 cm thickness and 2 transverse bulkheads for 10cm fore and aft 15xm thickness.
