German naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 11 November 1936

According to the available details were at that moment being build 1 battleship of 35,000 ton, 1 mother plane ship, cruisers of 10,000 ton, 6 destroyers of 1,811 ton, 12 torpedo boats of 600 ton, 10 submarines of 600 ton, 4 submarines of 250 ton, 15 minesweepers and 4 fast boats for coastal defence tasks. The building of a second battleship of 26,000 ton was all ready announced which was to be a sister ship of the recently launched Scharnhorst and probably to be named Gneisenau. Further more were plans for a second mother plane ship although nothing was decided dealing with her size.
