Naval strength of the Dutch East Company at Palembang and Jambij in 1683

In 1683 a list was made of the ships, vessels and so on, belonging to the Dutch East Company. For most of the ships was given an indication of her condition, sometimes what kind of ship, her measurement and the first time she was outward bound.

Classification ‘B’ suitable for calm fairways like in the Eastern provinces, Malacca, Siam, West Coast of Sumatra, Palembang and Jambij.
Classification ‘C’ just suitable for some service in the Indies, mainly off the East Coast of Java and other factories.

Soestdijck. fluyt, 250 last, first outward to the Dutch East Indies 1677. Had to go to Onrust to be repaired as soon as she returned, at the moment she was hardly worth the classification ‘B’. The (personnel) situation at the yard at Onrust was so worse that the best ships were repaired first. Due to this fact it had to be feared that the Soestdijk, which already waited far to long for her repairs, lost all her potential value. According to Bruijn 480 metric tons tonnage, chamber Amsterdam, built at Amsterdam, left Texel 14 September 1676, master Jan Boon, via S Vincente, stayed at Cape of Good Hope, South Africa 2-21 March 1677 and arrived at Batavia, Dutch East Indies 15 June 1677 with 61 sailors (departure 65). Laid up and sold 30 September 1684. According to Van Stapel built 1676, 130 x 28 x 13, height above hold 5½, with large cabin.
Pijnacker, fluyt, 200 last, first outward to the Dutch East Indies 1671. Classification ‘C ’was worn out and after returning to Palembang her last voyage was to be broken up. According to Bruijn, 472 metric tons tonnage, chamber Delft and built at Delft. She left the river Maas 9 December 1670, master Jan Lambertsz Radder of Rotterdam, stayed at Cape of Good Hope 26 March-11 April 1671 and arrived at Batavia, Dutch East Indies 21 June 1671 with 73 sailors departure 74), 36 soldiers (departure 61) and 3 passengers (departure 3). According to Van Stapel built 1670, dimensions 128 x 27 x ?
Griffioen, a sloop, built at Damack for the company. She was well built enough to serve for a considerable if she was regularly repaired. Served on the fair ways between Banca and Palembang.
The sloops Geregtigheijt and Moor were aged and worn out.
