The
newspaper Courrier de Smyrne published some tidings from Alexandria
dated until 28 March. According to this tidings arrived 9 March at Alexandria
the French brig of war Volage coming from Poros and Candia. On board were some
European officers who were in service of the Pasha of Egypt and taken prisoner
while being on board of an Egyptian corvette some time ago captured by a
Russian ship of the line in the waters of Candia. The French admiral De Rigny
negotiated with success for their freedom.
