According to the newspaper Javasche Courant dated 25 September departed the Governor General 30 August with the steamship Zr.Ms. Merapi Batavia towards Samarang. He arrived at this destination 1 September 08.30 o’clock for a long visit including to the arsenal and military hospital at Samarang. Batavia, 7 September. The schooner brig Zr.Ms. Saparoea returned accompanied by the kruisboot No. 60 18 August at Riouw after having cruised in the waters of Riouw. The kruisboot repaired or renewed some buoys. After receiving a tiding that off the island Engano a British ship with a valuable cargo was wrecked departed the steamship Zr.Ms. Hekla immediately 11 August but returned due to heavy storms in the Poeloebay and resumed 20 August her voyage via Padang where coal was taken on board.
