Italian cabinet considered replacement of Sardegna-class battleship according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 3

An item reported that the Italian cabinet intended to stricken the battleships Sicilia (1), Re Umberto (2) and Sardegna (3) of the Sardegna-class and to replace them by new battleships of around 24.000 ton and a main armament of 10/12-34mcm guns. The first ship was to be laid down in July.(1)

1. Elsewhere called the Re Umberto-class ironclad battleships preceded by the Ruggiero di Lauria-class and succeeded by the Ammiraglio di Saint Bon-class, with a main armament of 2x2-34,3cm/13,5“ /30 guns. Re Umberto laid down 10 July 1884 and finally stricken on 4 July 1920, Sicilia laid down on 3 November 1884 and finally stricken in 1893 and the Sardegna laid down on 24 October 1885 and finally stricken on 4 January 1923.
