German request for releasing Italian lighter Palermo lying at Giurgiu, Romania in 1943

In a letter dated 15 September 1943 of the German ambassador was the Romanian deputy secretary of navy asked to release the tank lighter Palermo of the Italian Danube shipping company Sindar. Homeport was a Romanian harbour. She was loaded with mineral oil destined for Germany and lying at Giurgiu but not allowed to depart. She was to return afterwards in the general mineral oil shipping of Romania.
