Guatemalan fishing ports according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated August-September 1967 No. 8-9

An item reported that Guatemala had two more or less Atlantic coastal ports namely Puerto Barrios and Matias de Galvez. The latter port run by the governement was being enlarged to double the freight-handling capacity by 1970. There were also 2 Pacific Coast ports hardly more than open roadstands but with small shrimp-freezing plants. The governement was trying with international support to establish a 15 million US dollars Pacific port to stimulate the fishing industry.
