Japanese fishing research vessel Shoyo Maru investigating Egyptian tuna fishery in the Mediterranean in Red Sea according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated January 1960 no. 1

An item reported the arrival of the Japanese fishing research vessel Shoyo Maru in March 1959 at Alexandria, Egypt. Purpose was to explore and research if commercial tuna fishery in the Mediterranen and Red Sea was possible. The results were disappointing for the Mediterranean and just slightly worse for the Red Sea.
