Strong Japanese force in the Bay of Bengal according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 9 April 1942

An item reported that the Japanese navy operated in the Bay of Bengal with probably 3-4 battleships, 4 aircraft carriers, 6 converted aircraft carriers, 8 heavy and 2 light cruisers and 28 destroyers presumable divided over two or more task forces. The J.I.C. commented that these figures were more correct than the ones mentioned in Summary No. 219.
