She was laid down as project no. 10521 at the shipyard of Baltic Works in St. Petersburg, USSR on 4 October 1989 with yard number 705 and to be named NS Ural Work and launched on 29 Deecember 1993. In 2002 being 70% and in 2003 80& completed. Finally was she completed in begin 2007 and in February started her trials. And a month later was she commissioned. Operated by Atomflot with as homeport Murmansk. With a gross tonnage if 23.439 tons, a deadweight of 3.505 tons and a displacement of 25.840 tons are her dimensions 159,60 x 28 9waterline)-30 (maximum) x 17,2 metres or 523’7”x 92’-98’5”x 56’5”. The two OK-900A nuclear reactors supplied each 171 MV allowing a speed of 2 (icebreaking capacity 3 metres)-18 (open waters)- 21.4 knots (maximum) . With a crew/expedition staff of 140 men is also a passenger accommodation for 128 people available consisting of 47 outside cabins and 17 1st class cabins
