Madrid,
5 August. The America expedition which departed 21 May while escorted by the
frigate Maria Isabella was lacking fresh water forced to enter 11on 31 May Santa
Cruz, Tenerife and to embark troops on board of one of the ships of which the
condition prevented to continue the voyage. The expedition departed on 7 June.
According to the newspaper Gazette de France was the heavy illness of
the commanding officer of the frigate the main reason for entering the harbour
of Santa Cruz.
