Rio Janeiro 9 March. The French captain Pottier in Brazilian service was degraded with a 7 year galley condemnation with loss of his belongings as compensation for the masters of the Belle Gabriele and the Aline of Nantes which ships he took without being permitted to do so.

Smyrna, 25 April. The warships of the European countries stationed in the Levant were busy with protecting the merchant ships with escort duties and pursuing the pirates which number increased constantly. The Chamber of Commerce at Marseille complained regularly about the plundering of French merchant ships in the Archipelago. The French ship Lamproie succeeded to destroy one of the most notorious pirates. The pirate left 8 March the harbour of Grabousa when she was sighted by the French ships. She hided behind a small island where her crew went on land where they were joined by some armed fellows of Grabousa. Around 07.30 arrived the Lamproie commanded by lieutenant Hamelin which captured and destroyed the piratical vessel. Three French crewmembers were wounded. The French ships l’Acide and l’Echo captured off Delor another pirate. Of the crew of the latter 5 were killed and 27 taken prisoner.
