The French navy officers strength according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 29 January 1829

The newspaper Moniteur published a Royal Order signed 14 December 1828 dealing with expansion of the number of naval officers.  Except for the Duke of Angoulême admiral of French and supreme commanding officer of the French navy consisted the officer corps of 12 vice admirals. 24 rear admirals, 110 captains of ships of the line, 130 captains of frigates, 500 lieutenants and 550 naval ensigns. This number was to be gradually completed without mentioning a specified time.
