Sweden buying Italian torpedo boats according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland evening edition dated 10 August 1940

Minister of Defence Skoeld answered on 9 August several questions of representatives in the Second Chamber of the Rijksdag dealing with the buying of 4 torpedo boats in Italy. Partly caused by the outbreak of the Second World War became it necessary to strengthen the Swedish navy. The conditions were really satisfactory as the sale costs were just a quarter of the amount reported by the press. The commission responsible for the acquisition claimed that the boats not only full filled all of the expectations but even far exceeded these. The chef of the Swedish admiralty stated all ready earlier in a press tiding that he was really satisfied and Skoeld made clear that all rumours dealing bribes with were nonsense.
