Swedish naval shipbuilding according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd: godsdienstig-staatkundig dagblad morning edition dated 14 February 1942

Stockholm, 14 February. The last years especially after the outbreak of the Second World war was the Swedish navy considerably strengthened and still new units are added. The commandant of the Swedish navy vice admiral Fabian Tamm handed over to the press an impression of the shipbuilding program. Except for the approved building of two small cruisers by the last Rijksdag [Diet] was a large number of destroyers, submarines, minesweepers and torpedo boats build. There were 9 submarines build and in 1940 was the navy strengthened by 5 destroyers while two more were completed in this year. In 1941 were 12 patrol boats/minesweepers each of 400 tons for the major part all ready launched and nearly completed commissioned and also 24 smaller minesweepers each of around 50 tons. Last year were six motor torpedo boats bought abroad for experimental purposes. At the moment of the publication were a considerable built at the Swedish yards probably to follow by more. There were also a large number of merchant ships, whalers etc either bought or hired to serve as auxiliary cruisers, depot ships and so on. Many aged warships were rebuilt and again armed and their fighting value was considerable increased.
