The Egyptian, French and Turkish navies at Ipsara and Casso according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 10 August 1824

Frankfurt, 5 August, The newspaper Journal de Frankfort dated 5 August published an extract from a private letter of Smyrna dated 5 July. According to this letter arrived Sunday the 4th the French goelette Amarante commanded by Bejard 21.00 o’clock. The ship was present at the capture of Ipsara by the Turkish squadron of the Capitan Pasha the 3rd. The Capitan Pasha left Mytilene the 2nd with 80 ships of different sizes and arrived in the night off Ipsara. The next morning around 04.00 were 14.000 men landed on the north coast.

An Egyptian squadron of 17 ships which was crossing in the waters of Caudin attacked 8 June Casso 05.00 o’clock without success. The next day the squadron was reinforced by more ships and a there was a second attack while afterwards the squadron of Ismail Gibraltar suddenly disappeared. The 10th the squadron however returned and finally Casso was captured.
