French battleship Vergniaud executed her official trials according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 8


An item reported that the French battleship Vergniaud exeuted her official trials. During the full speed trial of 10 hours was the contracted speed of 19,25 miles not achieved, but the commission decided that the trial was a success regarding the circumstances. The coal trial dealing with the half of the available fires was not a success. In stead of the contracted 410 kilo was with a speed of 13,33 miles totally 5.800 kilo coal burned or 435 kilo/mile. During a 24 hours coal trials was the consumption 680 kilo/mile when 685 was allowed. With 12.000 kilo/hour was the speed 17,84 miles. During the 3 hours full speed was on the mile the medium number of revolution 302,96 and after correction 302,31. The steam pressure was 16 kilo at the water condenser 10 kilo, at the high pressure turbine and 0,35 kilo at the low pressure turbine. The medium speed on the mile was 19,675 after correction 19,63 miles. Totally coal consumption in one hour was 23.320 kilo. Her turbines were made by the Forges et Chantiers.(1)
