Part of Wespe-class for protection of the coastline. Launched by AG Weser Werft, Bremen, Germany with yard number 44 on 29 September 1880, commissioned on 15 June 1884, stricken on 18 March 1911 and became the floating work vessel Stromquelle at Wilhelmshaven until 1924 since then at Kiel, Germany retaining her original name Natter in 1928.
