French squadron sighted by British merchant ship Lancaster according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 24 November 1824

London, 19 November. The Lloyds agent at Barbados wrote in his letter dated 5 October that master Wilding of the Lancaster of Liverpool arrived 18 September at Barbados. Wildings saw at 35°40”B and 18°10’L a French squadron consisted of 2-84 gun ships, 8 frigates, 2 corvettes, 1 brig and 2 goelettes anchored near the Cape.
