Ltd., Yokohama, Japan on 11 October 1929, launched on 28 April 1930, completed on 16 September 1930, requistioned by the navy, converted into an armed auxiliary aircraft transport between 9 August-10 December 1941, torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Saury (SS-189) in the Banda Sea 30 miles north west of Celebes, Dutch East Indies on 11 September 1942 and stricken on 20 October 1942. Owner in 1939 Harada Kisen K.K., Hutyu, Japan. Gross tonnage 8,607 tons, under deck 7,971 tons, net tonnage 5,188 tons and as dimensions 461.7 x 61.5 x 39.7 x 11.6 (light)-28 (loaded) feet. Diesel propulsion. Horsepower 2,350 nhp/7,500 bhp. Speed 16 (normal cruising)-18.5 (maximum) knots. Range 28,000 nautical miles/16 knots. Oil fuel bunker capacity 2,975 tons including deep tanks. Two screws. 

Dutch brigs Zr.Ms. Sylph, Lansier and Rembang cruising in Bay of Paré Paré and off coastline of Celebes, Dutch East Indies according to the Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 14 January 1860

An item reported that the Dutch schooner brigs part of the expeditionary force for Boni, Dutch East Indies were ordered to cruise in the Bay of Paré Paré and the adjacent coast line of Celebes, Dutch East Indies supported by a so-called kruisboot (patrol vessel). Immediately departed the Sylph (1) for that purpose, the Lansier/Lancier (2) returned on 17th June from Bima at Macassar and acted together with the Rembang (3)in the roads of Macassar as replacement. The Sylph was on 3rd July in the station at Paré Paré replaced by the Rembang and after arrival at Macassar was she due to the worse condition of her hull immediately sent towards Batavia, Dutch East Indies to be repaired.

1. Brigantine, laid down at the shipyard of De Jongh, Kortland en Anthony at Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1837, launched on 6 May 1837, bought by the navy in 1841, sold in the Dutch East Indies in 1842, rebought in May 1846, mostly renewed at the towing slip at Onrust, Dutch East Indies in 1850, probably sold on public auction on Saturday 28 April 1861, dimensions 28,5 x 8,7 x 3,15 metres, displacement 252 tons and an armament of 5 guns.

An item reported that 38 Japanese transports escorted by 15 warships were sighted in the Dutch East Indies with as target Balikpapan, Borneo or the west coast of Celebes. The Dutch were demolishing the oil fields at Balikpapan.
