The uniforms of a lieutenant of the navy of the United States in 1830 according to Peter Force

Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That's quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.

P. 190: “General Order Navy Department , 1st May, 1830. After the 31st day of December, 1830, the “Uniform Dress” for the Officers of the Navy of the United States, shall be as hereinafter described, and to which all Officers of the Navy are directed to conform. Full Dress. In all respects like Masters Commandant, with the exception of the embroidery on the cuffs of the coat. One epaulet, and that to be worn on the right shoulder.Undress. Same as Masters Commandant, with the exception of one epaulet in lieu of two.”
