The German naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Het Nieuws van den dag dated Saturday 28 April 1900

After the last meeting of the Commission for the Naval Bill on Friday are the opportunities for approval of the bill improved. As a results of proposals of the Centrum (centre) was the auxiliary squadron of 6 large and 7 smaller cruisers deleted but were 11 battleships and 2 large and 8 smaller cruisers totally 21 ships allowed. Except for their armament was the budget of the refused ship 146.500.000 (Dutch guilders?). Another proposal of the Centrum not to allow to replace in the future the 8 coastal battleships by larger battleships was also accepted. Despite this all were still problems to expect while the Centrum according to the newspaper Germania requested an well and immediately answer how the expenses were to be paid.
