A new Japanese battleship design according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland: staat- en letterkundig nieuwsblad daily edition dated 3 May 1936

The tiding that the Japanese admiralty intended to built a 55,000 ton battleship armed with heavy guns caused quite some excitement at London. If the tiding was correct failed in fact the Naval Treaty of London where it was decided to limit the tonnage and armament of battleships to 35,000 tons and 14” guns. Building costs of such a ship were estimated on 11.000.000 pound sterling.
