Russian submarine Minoga sunk according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 8 April 1913

According to a tiding dated Libau, 6 April sunk in the night of Saturday-Sunday the Russian submarine Minoga. After being 1,5 hours being submerged was she salvaged and transported in to the harbour. Her crew was unharmed. What caused the accident was unknown.

1. Normal Polmar confirmed this accident in his book Submarines of the Russian and Soviet Navies, 1718-1990. According she sunk in shallow water on 6 April during a dive trial and was she salvaged after 12 hours and not 1,5 hour as the newspaper reported. A vent shaft wasn’t closed as being obstructed by a signal flag with as result that water could enter the boat. The Minoga was laid down on 6 September 1906, launched on 11 October 1908, completed in October 1909 and after being stricken on 21 November 1925 sold to be broken up.  Her displacement was 117 tons while surfaced and 142 tons while submerged with as dimensions 105’7”(over all) x 9’2” x 8’2½”or 32,2 x 2,8 x 2,5 metres.
