The strength of the navy of Austria as ordered by the emperor in 1858

For years was in the Netherlands a magazine published dealing with maritime affairs. It contained notes dealing with the Royal Dutch Navy and the Dutch merchant shipping/trade, but also supplied information dealing with foreign navies, especially of France and Great Britain. Occasionally we can find information dealing with the navies of other countries like Russia, United States or even Mexico.
According to a note in this magazine the Austrian navy was due to an order of the emperor to consist of
3 ships of the line 1st class armed with 100-120 guns, 1000 hp, 3 ships of the line 2nd class armed with 80-90 guns, 6 frigates of the 1st class, armed with 60 guns, 3 frigates of the 2nd class, armed with 50 guns
3 frigates of the 3rd class, armed with 31 guns, 6 corvettes, armed with 23-28 guns, 2 sail frigates, 2 screw steam corvettes, 4 schooners, 12 transports, namely 3 screw steam corvettes, 3 paddle steamships, 4 aviso’s and 2 screw steamships, 4 screw steam schooners and 8 gunboats.
