Short after new year will the Platt firm lay down the keel of the super dreadnought USS Massachusetts with a length of 660’ and a displacement of 43,200 tons, a speed of 23 knots and an armament of 21-16” guns and 18-6” guns. A month later will be the keel of the battle cruiser Lexington be laid down with a length of 880’, while the 180,000 hp supplied by the engines a speed will allow of 35 miles.
