According to the Naval Treaty of Washington was France allowed to have advance of 240,000 tons over the Italian navy and now after 5 years 155.000 tons were exactly build. If both sides continued with building France would have built in 1936 200.000 tons of which 157.000 tons was to be considered as replacement of aged units while Italy also would have build 200.000 tons however just to replace just 102,000 tons of aged units reducing the French advance to just 55,000 tons. Considered the submarines had France at that moment a advance of 32,000 tons. As a result of the new treaty would France posses in 1936 over 81,900 tons and Italy 53,700 tons.
