The Russian K-1000 battleship was rumoured to be a type of advanced battleships laid down at shipyards in Siberia just when the Cold War started. Rumours were in end 40's-begin '50 of the 20th century wide spread not at the least thanks to the several Western naval publications journals including the well known Jane's Fighting Ships. But nobody was able to give a to be trusted technical description. They were to carry guided missiles joined by six or nine conventional 16" guns or even 12-18" guns. Their displacement varied between 35,000 and the 55,000 tons and with a speed of 25 to 33 knots!
The names assigned to the class were said to be: Strana Sovetov, Sovetskaya Byelorossia, Krasnaya Bessarabiya, Krasnaya Sibir', Sovietskaya Konstitutsia, Lenin and the Sovetskiy Soyuz. Many of the above mentioned names were re-used from units of the authentic, but never completed, Sovetsky Soyuz class which were under construction when World War II broke out. The dimensions of this class were displacement 59,150 metric tons standard and 65,150 tons full load and 269.4 x 38.9 x 10.4m. These specifications dated from 1941 and it was the intention to use the hulls of this class for the K-1000 class. While the K-1000 class never was realized were the hulls sunk while using as targets while testing new weapons.
