American naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag: kleine courant dated 1 October 1907

The USA navy decided to build 5 fast cruisers and 4 battleships larger as any other battleships. Roosevelt (1) used all his influence to get an accord of the Congress for the budget during this meeting. In the edition dated 4 December was reported that the navy department asked for a budget of 69,000,000 needed for the building of 4 battleships, 4 cruisers, 10 destroyers and 4 submarines.
