New German protected cruiser design according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 25 May 1907

The German department of Navy held in 1906 a design contest for a new protected cruisers and announced at that moment the results. In the contest participated the imperial yards at Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, the Germania yard of Krupp at Kiel, Blohm&Voss at Hamburg, Schichau at Danzig, Vulkan at Stettin and the Weser yard at Bremen. The last yard was the winner, Blohm&Voss was second and the imperial yard at Wilhelmshaven was third. Further specifications were just like Japanese and British examples not mentioned.
