Venetian naval preparations according to the Dutch newspaper Ommelander Courant dated 12 May 1785

According to an item dated 14 April continued Venice her preparations for a probably a war with the Dutch republic. Some ships of the line, frigates and 25 or 30 Sclavonian tartanes (one with 32 guns and 250 men) were to be launched to increase the strength of the Venetian navy and to able to harass the Dutch merchant shipping.
