American ladies collecting money for British hospital ship according to the Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated 29 November 1899

An item reported that during a meeting of American ladies at Londen presided by Lady Randoph Churchill was decided that Americans at both sides of the Atlantic Ocean would collect money to sent a wel equipped hospital ship to South Africa on behalf of the sick and woundes soldiers and refugees. It was expected that the encesary 30.000 pound sterling was avaible within 14 days. If realized was she the second hospital ship fitted out by Americans offered to EnglandAnother newspaper De Sumatra post dated 1 December reported that the Fund of American Ladies in England already collected 3,000 pound while Frank Gardiner gave 1,000 pound.
