Note
1. Another Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated 10 March 1892 supplies more details dealing with these ships. The first of the so-called coupled sand suction dredgers was launched at the yard of Rijkée en Co., at Katendrecht, Rotterdam. The ships were build for Conrad which was contracted by the Russian government. The keel was laid down for a hopper bucket dredge with the for the Netherlands unknown large dimensions of 58 x 10,6 metres. In fact were the vessels not directly ordered by the Russian government but acted E. Letellier of Paris, France as intermediary. The two engines of each 250 hp drove the screws and the dredge equipment which had a capacity of 500M3 sand each hour from a depth of 14 metres using buckets each of 600 litres capacity.
