Russia ordered building of timber freighters by the Furness Shipbuilding Company according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland dated 19 July 1935

An item reported that the Russian cabinet ordered the building of seven timber freighters at the shipyard of the Furness Shipbuilding Company. The ships were to be completed within a year. Total costs of the order were estimated on 400.000 pound sterling which according to rumours was to be paid in cash. This tiding was confirmed by the newspaper De Tribune dated 19 July.
