Chinese government selling seized Austrian ships according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 29 October 1917

An item reported that the Dutch embassy at Peking intermediated in sending tidings to the Austrian-Hungarian department of foreign affairs that the Austrian ships China, Silesia and Bohemia belonging to the Austrian Lloyd were sold by the Chinese cabinet after her war declaration to a Chinese ship owner for 4.000.000 US dollars in gold. The balance value of the ships was estimated to be 936.000 crones.(1)
