Brazilian gunboat Acre 1904-1921



Acre-class river gunboats. She was like her sister ship Amapá, Juruá and Missões launched at the British shipyard Yarrow in Scotstoun in 1904 and completed two years later in Brazil where she was added to the Amazonas flotilla. She was finally stricken 0n 11 March 1921. With a displacement of 110 (standard)-200 (full loaded) tons were her dimensions 36,3-36,6 x 6,5-6,10 x 0,60-0,85 metres. The vertical triple expansion engine and the one Yarrow-built boiler supplied 300 hp allowing a speed of  6 (cruising)-11 (maximum) knots. Her coal bunker capacity was 22 tons and 6.000 wood blocks needed. Her daily fuel consumption was 7 tons! Her crew numbered 30 men and the armament consisted of 1-3.4”/15pdr/8,7cm  howitzer, 1 Nordenfelt 6pdr gun or 2-5,7cm guns and 4-6x1-0.7cm Maxim machine guns. Call sign GBFZ.
