Italian minelayer Buccari 1926-1943




Of the Fasana-class with as sister ships the Durazzo, Fasana and Pelagosa, all built at the Arsenale di Castellamare di Stabla. These minelayers could also b used for minesweeping. Launched in 1926, completed a year later and scuttled by her own crew in La Spezia or in Naples (?) on 9 September 1943. With a displacement of 513 (standard)-590 (full loaded)-610 (?) tons were her dimensions 58,5 (between perpendiculars)-66,3 (over all) x 9,75 x 1,73 metres or 192 (between perpendiculars) x 32 x 5.7 feet. The two sets diesel engines supplied totally 700 bhp allowing a speed of 10 knots and with her oil fuel bunker capacity of 20 tons a range of 700 nautical mines.. The armament consisted of 1-3” anti aircraft gun and she could carry with her 54-200 mines. Her crew numbered 66 men.
