American tanker shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Gereformeerd gezinsblad dated 20 November 1956

An item dated Washington 16 November reported that the US Maritime Administration considered proposals dealing with the building of 31 tankers by American shipyards including 3-100.000 tons tankers. Total building costs of this program 390.000.000 US dollars. An earlier program resulted already in the building or ordering of 23 tankers.
