Dutch screw steamship Tyne 1922-1936, Rambone 1936-1938 and the French Kerkenac 1938-
Steel-built. In 1922 built at the shipyard of P. Smit Jr. at Rotterdam for the Dutch company Steenkolen Handels Ver. at Rotterdam. International sign PVQS. Dimensions 237’7”x 36’11” x 17’4”. Tonnage 1.579 gross and 877 net tons of 2.83 cubic metres, loading capacity 94.080 in English cubic feet and load bearing capacity inclusive bunkers 2.230 tons of 1.016 kg. The newspaper Voorwaarts dated 9 May 1922 reported her launching and that she was especially built for very fast loading and unloading her cargoes coal. For this purpose she was fitted with just twp very large hatches each with as dimensions 20 x 9 metres. Fitted out with a triple expansion engine and two Scottish boilers supplying 1.200 ihp and allowing a speed of 11-12 knots. The edition 27 June reported that she performed a good trial and was now underway towards Newcastle for loading coal. The newspaper De tribune dated 9 October 1936 reported her sale via the ship brokers Jacq. Pierot Jr.&Zonen at Rotterdam to a new shipping company at Rotterdam. The edition dated the 15th reported that she was renamed Rambon and property of the N.V. Rambon. The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 8 July 1938 reported her sale to France again via Pierot and now was renamed Kerkenac.
