US Maritime Commission approved plans of American oil companies according to the Dutch newspaper Amigoe di Curacao dated 24 March 1956

An item reported that the US Maritime Commission in principle approved the plans of two oil companies to built USA-flagged tankers and the transfer of two foreign-flagged tankers. The Gulf Oil intended to built 2 or 4 32.000 tons tankers and the American Oil Company intended to spent 2.600.000 US dollars for 3-T2 tankers. The latter company was also permitted to transfer 2-T2 tankers under foreign flags.
