British steam tanker Turko wrecked near Den Helder, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper De Gooi- en Eemlander dated Wednesday 8 January 1908

An item reported that on Monday the British steam tanker Turko underway from Batoum [Batumi, Georgia] towards Hamburg stranded on the Zuider Haaksgronden near Den Helder. She broke in two parts and lost her cargo of petroleum. The lifeboat managed to save 16 crew members, the other 16 men used a boat of their own and wre picked up by the tug Atlas which brought them to Den Helder.
