The
steamboat bought by the Porte in 1828 transported 7 February the Sultan towards
the sea of Marmora, perhaps towards Rodosto to meet Izzet-Mehemed. While it
still was unknown when the blockade of the Dardanelles was stopped ordered the
Porte to unload all ships loaded with grain which arrived at Smyrna and to
transport the grain with camels to the sea of Marmora. At Constantinople
arrived the tidings that the Austrian count Dandalo indeed got back the seized
merchant ships at Egina and received 87.000 Spanish piasters (ƒ 217.500) as
compensation for the all ready sold cargoes.
