The results seemed that year not to be hopeful. Commandeur F. Richers who arrived at Texel reported that he catches his whales on 14 May but entered 3 days later a heavy South South East storm driving him in to the floating ice and the next day into a ice field. He witnessed the los of the St. Petrus, an Englishman and a ship of Flensburg. Despite two pumps he hardly managed to keep his own ship floating. After finally freed from the ice he met other whalers who also complained over their catch results and while his ship was to damaged to continue he decided on 16 June to come homewards.
